Do you want to be part of a team of professionals who use lightheartedness, structure, understanding, and a family-style environment to support uniquely wonderful students?

Hampshire Country School (HCS) is a one-of-a-kind school for twice-exceptional boys who need a place to discover possibilities despite characteristics and behaviors that have limited their success and access in traditional school settings. Our summer program, Timbertop Camp, is hiring an Assistant Director for our 2024 season.

Responsibilities

An aspiring Assistant Camp Director:

  • Is an up-and-coming camp professional with at least two years of experience in organized camping, wilderness expeditions, or residential youth programming
  • Has proven competencies in leading small groups of activity specialists, residential counselors, and support staff
  • Has an educational background in recreation management or outdoor leadership
  • Has a wildly positive attitude and love for the transformative power of camp
  • Is comfortable overnight camping and supervising very excited campers on public adventures

Specific Leadership Responsibilities

  • Serving as the daily Quarterback. Calling the play and managing the community from an in-the-mix perspective
  • Provide regular updates to the Camp Director on program status and staff performance
  • Providing guidance and direction to our Activity Specialists and Camp Counselors 
  • Applying your vision and creativity to the existing structure of Timbertop Camp 
  • Serving as a relief camp counselor to provide for adequate staffing throughout the summer
  • Collaborating with the camp director to ensure Timbertop Camp programming and training aligns with the core mission of Hampshire Country School
  • Providing programming expertise to allow for maximum daily flexibility for our campers
  • Embracing and enabling the possibilities of every moment to ensure a July full of formative memories for the entire camp population
  • Providing daily logistical support to the Kitchen, Adventure Programming, and Program Areas

Qualifications

We are especially looking for applicants with:

  • Previous residential supervision experience
  • Pre-existing Lifeguard and WFR certs
  • Professional 2E experiences
