PLEASE NOTE: There are 198 boarding schools in the United States and only a subset will entertain an application of a student who successfully completed a treatment program, wilderness therapy program, intervention, or transition program. This cohort of schools have these similarities:
- Smaller student populations
- Deliberate advisor/advisee relationships
- Intentional at creating their community
- Clinician(s) on campus or connected through the school
- Targeted admissions criteria like a specific diagnosis (autism, anxiety/depression, gaming addiction, or recovery options)
- Academic and/or counselors to assist incoming and existing community members through learning or emotional weaknesses
