Cascade Crest Transitions Reflects on a Year of COVID-19

Cascade Crest Transitions is grateful to support young adults during a time full of uncertainty. Cascade Crest Transition has been able to provide a safe environment with the main focus being the safety of students and staff as well as keeping students engaged and connected in and around Bend, Oregon where the transition program is located. The students and staff at Cascade Crest Transitions are vaccinated. The transition program also encourages all new young adults (18 – 23 years old) who enroll to be vaccinated.
During the past year, Cascade Crest Transition has had consistent enrollments from Wilderness Therapy programs. Wilderness Therapy programs serve as primary treatment for young adults ages 18 -23 who reveal that they are ready to navigate the next steps of launching into independence. Even though those steps are not the same as they have been due to COVID, CCT has been able to support each student in a new way of maneuvering life, such as accessing online college classes, online or social distanced therapy, life skills, regular exercise, and outdoor adventures, and learning how to navigate a COVID-safe community.
Cascade Crest Transition is enjoying the slow and intentional process of Bend re-opening slowly and safely over the next several months. This transition is providing the young adults in the two-phase programs access to more independence, jobs, and in-person college classes. It is hard to recall where the country was a year ago and how far the young adults have come as they enjoy the gradual reopening of Bend.
