Clinical Psychotherapist – Residential Program | ME

Cornerstones of Maine is excited to offer the opportunity to join our clinical team as a psychotherapist. A boutique, private-pay, residential program that provides a suite of transitional support services to young adults, Cornerstones of Maine is the fastest growing therapeutic program in Maine, having tripled in size in 5 years. Founded and directed by two clinical psychologists, Cornerstones has become one of the most respected residential programs in the country, offering a therapeutic experience that is inaccessible in today’s insurance-based mental health field. We utilize an integrated therapeutic model that is based in psychodynamic theory and our psychotherapists carry a small caseload of clients, providing individual, group, and family psychotherapy. The therapeutic milieu encourages a dynamic, team-treatment approach which allows our staff members to support and collaborate with each other on cases. Our psychotherapists participate in ongoing training (such as Mentalization Based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Transference Focused Psychotherapy) and weekly individual and group supervision. Our psychotherapists also present regularly at academic and professional conferences all over the country. This is a very exciting position that incorporates fascinating clinical work and opportunities for intensive study of clinical technique. About Cornerstones of Maine
Cornerstones of Maine is a clinically-focused transitional living program located in Portland and Biddeford, Maine. Our psychologist-owned and operated program assists 18 to 28-year-old creative & bright emerging young adults who are struggling to live and function independently. We provide a therapeutic & experiential approach that gives structure and support based on each client’s individual needs. Our residences have accommodations for all genders and are LGBTQIA+ affirming. The average length of stay is 9 to 12 months.
We follow a dual therapist model and each client has weekly individual and group therapy sessions and monthly family therapy sessions. Each client is provided 1:1 support from a Life Skills & Academics Coach, who works directly with their primary and secondary therapist. Our individualized program includes professional development, academic reengagement, and real world immersion. These experiences, along with enrichment opportunities, promote emotional growth, personal value, and life purpose.
The core mission of our program is to help young adults on the path toward self-reliance and autonomy. We work with creative & bright clinically complex young adults who are psychologically stable, but need some extra support and scaffolding along the way. Achieving this goal isn’t easy and requires a comprehensive approach that provides an opportunity to both learn and practice the skills that lead to independent living.
