Equinox RTC Hosts Weekly Parent Support Calls

Equinox RTC, a residential treatment center for teen boys ages 14-18, has expanded its parent support group program. Equinox Primary Therapist Melissa Margolin, LCSW hosts weekly parent support group video calls via Zoom. These groups are typically held on Monday evenings for an hour and a half.
The support group calls center around a topic or principle, which includes discussion topics and questions for reflection as well as homework for parents. The parent support group is a safe place for parents to express themselves and provide support to those in similar situations. Equinox RTC knows that long-lasting change takes time and sustained effort from each family member.
The heart of Equinox’s clinical program is the work and therapy it does with families. Equinox firmly believes in the importance of strong and healthy family relationships. Students and their families work to heal their damaged or strained relationships and restore healthy connections within the family system.
“Our hope is that families feel supported and heard throughout their child’s stay at Equinox,” said Clinical Director John Moore. “These parent support group calls provide another opportunity for families to connect with one another in a safe, welcoming environment.”
In addition to weekly family therapy sessions by Zoom or phone, Equinox also invites families to visit campus and participate in face-to-face family therapy sessions. Parents are highly encouraged to participate in weekend visits with their child at a pace that is therapeutic to the whole family.
