Evoke Therapy Programs Welcomes Anthony Salerno as New Therapist at Entrada Location

Evoke Therapy Programs is pleased to announce the hiring of Anthony Salerno MS, ACMHC, NCC as a therapist for male and male-identifying adolescents at the company’s Entrada location in Santa Clara, Utah.
Salerno works well with young people who are depressed and anxious, yet can also be bright and manipulative. His clients can show up as sensitive and thoughtful young people, many of whom have abused substances. His focus on family systems means that parents also play a vital role in their child’s healing and Salerno is able to support families by exploring their challenges through that lens. “I love the direction we have taken at Evoke in amplifying the family work that parallels what our young charges experience in the field,” he says.
Salerno earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Villanova University, which included time spent working at a community mental health facility in Philadelphia. Earlier in his career, his deeply challenging, yet satisfying work at Evoke Entrada for more than four years is what led him to eventually pursue his graduate-level degree. During his time as a field staffer at Evoke, he was honored with the Jumping Mouse Award at the Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare Council’s Wilderness Therapy Symposium for his outstanding performance in the field. This inspired him to move over to Evoke’s clinical department where he worked under several therapists as a clinical assistant.
Anthony returns to Evoke with a wealth of experience and awareness of how to support young people and their families in doing therapeutic work in the wilderness. His insight and clinical sophistication make him a great fit for the family-oriented treatment approach at Evoke,” says Matt Hoag, owner, clinical director, and therapist at Evoke.
For his part, Salerno is also happy to be back. “Accessing the power of the outdoors as a conduit for growth and change has become an incredibly meaningful facet of both my personal and professional development, and it is an honor to share this gift with young people and their families at Evoke,” he says. “I love providing participants with powerful opportunities to work through their defenses as they develop new coping strategies and helping families reignite pathways of communication that were on the verge of being extinguished. Evoke is the consummate environment for the clinical work I hope to accomplish throughout my career.”
