Foothills Announces Campus Improvements

Foothills at Red Oak Recovery boasts more than 90 acres on its scenic campus and features several large horse pastures, peaceful streams, quiet sitting spots, large horse round pens in the foothills of North Carolina. There is plenty of beautiful green space to play, explore, and, in general, “be” on campus. Along with a challenging ropes course and horses, Foothills is thrilled to announce further growth of the campus with on-site campsites and hiking trails.
These new campsites offer several different spaces and purposes – with grills, firepits, picnic tables, and more – they offer the perfect respite for a community meeting, celebrations, downtime, camping, and other outside activities. “These new campsites have been wonderful to use for client camping both during the week and on the weekends, as well as training for our team,” says Tanner Balkcom, Operations Director. “My favorite spot is the slow cascade of water over the rocks next to the Mossy Oak Campsite. It is incredibly peaceful and renewing.”
There are new hiking trails also being created, with two already finished and a third trail in the works. These trails will allow for easy access to outdoor movement in nature and exercise in a serene setting, while keeping clients on campus and close to other Foothills’ activities and programming.
