Foundations Asheville + Nintendo Switch Parties = Success

What do the Nintendo Switch video game system and a program aimed at breaking tech addiction have to do with each other? Foundations Asheville uses the Nintendo Switch as a novel approach to helping young adults reestablish a healthy connection with technology and reinforce better coping mechanisms towards stress and anxiety. Similar to much of the therapy activities at Foundations, The Nintendo Switch is a platform built with cooperative experiences meant to engage multiple participants at once. Because it is packed full of multiplayer games that range from strategy to creativity in a team setting, it requires players to work together to achieve and complete game goals.
Foundations Asheville has been using the Switch with great impacts complementing the regular therapy work. It helps to facilitate empathy, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a fun way that also reshapes the students’ mentality around technology.
Joel Coady, the Life Skills Instructor at Foundations, shares how he uses the Nintendo Switch to meet the treatment needs of his clients in Foundations Asheville’s latest blog → https://foundationsasheville.com/blog/foundations-asheville-nintendo-switch-parties-success/
