Muir Wood is hiring an Associate Therapist who is responsible for providing residential addiction and mental health treatment as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team and will report directly to the Clinical Director as part of the clinical management team.

The therapist fulfills direct service, including individual /family and group psychotherapy, consultations, and crisis intervention. Additionally, it directly interfaces with residents and families. Facilitates individual and group therapy; coordinates 12-step programming, management of daily milieu, and providing leadership to support staff. Will hold a caseload minimum of 3 clients, run group therapy sessions, and participate in the weekly treatment team and clinical meetings.

  • Conduct assessments of clients at admission and re-assessments as required
  • Conduct ACRQ at time of admission and at time of discharge
  • Conduct twice weekly individual therapy sessions with assigned caseload
  • Communicates with third-party insurance provider upon admission (or as necessary)
  • Maintains comprehensive clinical documentation that meets or exceeds relevant legal, ethical, and accreditation standards
  • Responsible for providing direct therapeutic services in the form of diagnostic assessments and treatment for all clients
  • Provide weekly group therapy with residents as needed and directed by Clinical Director
  • Facilitate Treatment Planning in the absence of the Clinical Director
  • Working knowledge of KIPU electronic health records and CARF charting standards
  • Responsible for parent/Referent communication and case management for client caseload (with client’s written consent)
  • Knowledge of current legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements, professional boundaries, and related issues
  • Provide in-service training to staff and trainees on topics as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor, etc.


  • Masters-level therapist or equivalent, AMFT, ACSW or APCC preferred.
  • Experience working in substance abuse treatment, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Holds a current license registration issued by appropriate state agency.
  • A valid CA driver license, a clean driving record and the ability to transport clients in vehicles
  • TB required and health screen, along with CPR and first aid
