Hopestream Community Supports Parents with New One-Stop Shop Nonprofit

Hopestream Community is a “new” nonprofit that’s been around for three years. Founder, Brenda Zane, has combined The Stream, The Woods, the Hopestream podcast, and several educational workshops to form a one-stop shop gathering place for parents of kids struggling with substances.
“Bringing all our services under one nonprofit umbrella makes it easier for parents to find what they need quickly, whether that’s a workshop on holding boundaries or the 24/7 support of a private community. We also wanted a place to highlight our signature retreats which offer stigmatized and frazzled parents an unforgettable experience not found elsewhere in this space,” commented Zane.
The organization is driven by a collective of experienced professionals and parents fiercely passionate about improving the lives of families impacted by substance misuse, addiction, and mental health challenges. Advisors and coaches are trained in Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) and the Invitation to Change Approach and have lived experience with their own children.
The genesis of Hopestream Community can be found in a passion project started by Zane after her son struggled for years with a high-risk lifestyle and addiction that culminated in two fentanyl overdoses in three days. From this experience, she began the Hopestream podcast and an online community, The Stream, for moms in early 2020.
Today, she and her team host two distinct and private parent communities, a weekly podcast, educational experiences, retreats, and local meetups serving those who identify as parents or caregivers to teens and young adults who struggle with substance misuse and mental health.
“Becoming a nonprofit wasn’t an easy decision but it felt right to us as we intend to meet the needs of as many parents as possible, regardless of their financial status. We know many families of means have experienced their child’s struggle and in wanting to help others, we make that possible,” said co-founder Cathy Cioth.
