Inside TCA: A Closer Look at Event Highlights & Membership Renewal

As summer comes to an end, the Therapeutic Consulting Association (TCA) reflects on the excitement of the past few months, which have been marked by progress, innovation, and community. In the midst of this vibrant atmosphere, TCA hosted a noteworthy “Business of the Business” event for its members with many memorable highlights centered around the impact that current legislation is having on transgender youth in Utah.
The special edition of our “Business of the Business” event with Laura Burt and Dr. Michael Connolly of Elevations RTC gave TCA members an opportunity to learn more about current Utah legislation impacting transgender youth. While there was a lot of useful information and insights gained, some highlights stuck out. Members learned that programs are indeed able to support youth who are transitioning and provide affirmative care within the state of Utah, though with limitations including extended wait times to start with medical specialists. Families are encouraged to continue with their home state providers for care even while enrolled in programming in Utah to support ongoing access to medical support as appropriate. While TCA knows not every program is equal in their willingness to provide affirmative care for transgender youth, the biggest takeaway was that ensuring safe environments with professional teams that want to advocate for and work with transgender youth — while being proactive in maintaining cultures that set gender expansive children and families up for success — is the way forward.
Also of note, TCA has a new look and website and has begun its ongoing membership renewal process, providing renewing members with access to a brand-new membership portal.
Reflecting on the enriching experience of the last “Business of the Business” event, TCA invites all therapeutic consultants to be an active part of the association’s evolving journey and growth. As a reminder, a TCA membership ensures that referring professionals will benefit from extensive collaboration, exclusive events, and form lasting connections with other members.
