Journey Home West and Journey Home Young Adult are excited to announce Andrea Jones, LCSW, as Clinical Director.
Journey Home Young Adult is designed as a 6-12 month step-down transition program for females ages 18 – 23 years old. The home-like setting offers therapeutic support and the opportunity for greater freedoms, responsibilities, and practice as an independent young adult. Journey Home West is a small residential transitional living program for females stepping down from another residential or wilderness setting. As a sister program to Solstice RTC in Utah, Journey Home is specifically designed for females ages 16-21 years old who have successfully completed a therapeutic program, and for one reason or another, returning to the home is not the best option for them.
“We are thrilled to have Andrea in this position,” says Charlie Falatea, Executive Director, “During her time at Journey Home Young Adult and Journey Home West she has demonstrated that she is a valuable resource for our clients and their families as well as a leader of the Clinical team.”
Andrea received her Master of Social Work from the University of Utah in 2013. She has over 15 years of experience in working in the social work field primarily working with kids, adolescents, and young adults with varied backgrounds in family dynamics, socioeconomic background, and sexual orientation. She has worked in all levels of care including residential, day treatment, and outpatient. She has developed and carried out programming in these levels of care. Her therapeutic approach is based on a person-centered and strengths-based perspective. She incorporates approaches in DBT, CBT, and Narrative therapies. She believes strongly in building skills, such as coping skills, life skills, and social skills in order to help improve mindfulness as well as emotion regulation in order to work through distress in more effective and healthy ways. She has experience in treating clients with PTSD, RAD, Anxiety, Depression, DMDD, Self-harm, ODD, ADHD, among other diagnoses.
“I’m excited to be here at Journey Home and enjoy working with the young adult population.” says Andrea, “It has been a great process to be a part of as I see the residents build confidence in their skills and develop their own path for independence.”
Outside of work, Andrea enjoys time with friends and family. She has a strong passion for music and has played the violin and is interested in learning new instruments. She also enjoys spending time recharging and enjoying activities to laugh and have fun.
