Matt Metcalf, LCSW, Joins Ascend Healthcare as Program Director

Los Angeles, CA, April 1 – Ascend Healthcare, a leading behavioral healthcare provider for adolescents who struggle with mental health and substance abuse disorders, is excited to announce a new addition to their team. Matt Metcalf joined them last month as the Program Director for Ascend’s all-gender mental health and dual-diagnosis programs in Encino, CA.
“I have a very practical and results-driven approach to helping adolescents thrive,” says Matt. “My dedication to creating a compassionate space where parents and teens can work on their relationships helps them develop mutually-beneficial boundaries and strengthen the structure of their family life while ensuring everyone is educated about teen mental health.” Matt, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Utah, has also earned a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. He continued his education with a Master’s in Divinity from Amridge University’s Turner School of Theology, as well as certifications for CBT and DBT through the Linehan Board of Certification at the Beck Institute and Behavioral Tech, respectively. His areas of specialization include PTSD, anxiety disorders, and addictions.
“Matt brings immense passion and dedication to his work at Ascend and always keeps the needs of the families foremost in his mind,” says Brittany Cohen, Executive Director at Ascend. “His ability to connect with clients and their families is astounding. He has an amazing sense of what people need the minute they walk through the door.”
