Momentum Recovery is a clinician-founded, clinician-operated treatment program for young adults overcoming substance use and mental health difficulties. We are looking to hire a therapist.  Our gender-specific programs, The Cove Women’s Program, and The Creek Men’s Program, offer comprehensive clinical and life skills programming from a holistic perspective.

We are located in the vibrant coastal City of Wilmington, North Carolina, and specialize in providing personalized clinical services and life skills development programming to young people and their families. Ideal candidates for this position will have experience in providing effective counseling for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, including but not limited to assessment, treatment planning, individual and group counseling, client education, discharge planning, and referral, all of which will be reflected by accurate record keeping.
If hired, the candidate will be required to:

  • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients and their families
  • Accurately assess clients and develop individualized treatment goals, using client input and client strengths, abilities, needs, and preferences


This Job Is Ideal for Someone Who Is:

  • Provide ongoing therapeutic interventions to assist clients in overcoming challenges
  • Produce assessments, treatment plans, and other records in a timely manner
  • Work in collaboration with other professionals as part of a treatment team to ensure optimum client outcomes
  • Develop and maintain relationships with referring professionals
  • Initiate appropriate referrals to other programs


Qualifications and Education Requirements

Primary counselors should hold a master’s degree in a human service field and be licensed or licensed eligible as Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialists. Ideal candidates will have experience working with young adults, preferable in a progressive, experiential treatment setting.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage workflow
  • Experience in facilitating group counseling
  • Experience with experiential therapy modalities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals in the field
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions
  • Current CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certification
  • Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification
  • Master’s (Required)

  • Relevant: 2 years (Required)
