Back2Basics, a long-term residential treatment program for young men in Flagstaff, Arizona, is proud to announce exciting developments that reflect the program’s ongoing growth and commitment to providing immersive, whole-person recovery. Known for blending evidence-based therapy with outdoor adventure, life skills training, and hands-on learning, Back2Basics continues to evolve—both in infrastructure and in the depth of its clinical and experiential offerings.
New Facility Nestled at the Edge of the National Forest
This summer, Back2Basics opened the doors to a newly acquired residential facility—formerly a bed and breakfast—that backs directly up to the Coconino National Forest. With direct access to a network of hiking and biking trails, the location offers participants daily opportunities to engage with nature as part of their recovery journey. The homey yet structured environment supports both community living and individual growth, embodying the program’s philosophy of recovery through real-world experience.
Life Skills in the Kitchen: Culinary Education with Purpose
Back2Basics has also welcomed a new culinary specialist to the team, introducing a robust life skills component focused on meal planning, shopping, cooking, and nutritional education. Participants now take part in hands-on culinary training designed not only to support independent living but to reinforce mindfulness, structure, and healthy habits that are essential in early recovery. The kitchen becomes a classroom where young men learn responsibility, time management, and how to care for themselves and others.
