Black Mountain Academy Launches Third Annual Trailblaze Challenge Fundraiser to Benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation
For the third consecutive year, Black Mountain Academy is proud to support Make-A-Wish of Central and Western North Carolina for the 2026 Trailblaze Challenge. This one-day, 28.3-mile hike pushes participants to their limits while raising vital funds for children facing critical illnesses. Building on a tradition of endurance and empathy, our team of 6-8 students and staff is preparing to take to the trails once again to turn miles into magic for local wish kids.
The Trailblaze Challenge has evolved into one of Black Mountain Academy’s more memorable community service initiatives, blending rigorous physical endurance with a deep commitment to giving back to a wonderful cause. Over the past two years, students and staff have successfully raised more than $17,000, celebrating each campaign with the completion of the 28.3-mile hike. This year, the Academy is elevating its commitment by setting an ambitious $11,200 fundraising goal to further empower the life-changing mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"It’s inspiring to see our students and staff develop grit and enjoy the outdoors while giving back to kids and families. By tackling an incredibly tough 28.3-mile challenge, they aren't just testing their own endurance - they are actively raising awareness and funds needed to grant life-changing wishes for some very amazing kids." - Brandon Moffitt, Executive Director
