Bluefire Triples Parent Support Groups The Whole Family System Is Our Client

Part of blueFire's philosophy is continuously improving services to better support clients and families, often in reflective response to family and client surveys. blueFire is thrilled to announce the expansion of family support services, effective April 2024. Understanding the crucial role families play in the therapeutic process, the blueFire team is intensifying efforts to foster a more supportive, informed, and empowered community for clients and their families.

When a family begins their journey at blueFire, they are provided with resources and guidance tailored to foster parallel growth—parents and children simultaneously undertaking their paths to healing. The "Parallel Process" book, given to every family upon enrollment, kickstarts this integrated approach. Furthermore, parents are immediately supported with parent coaching from their primary therapists, setting the foundation for the crucial family therapy sessions that commence in the third week.

The pinnacle of this deeply interconnected family work is blueFire's well-loved 4-day parent/child program—Family Spark for adolescents and Family Flow for the young adult Pulsar group. Designed as a culmination of the family's efforts, these programs aim to ignite lasting change within the familial system, ensuring the sustainability of the progress made within blueFire's care.

Historically, blueFire has offered one parent support group and one psychoeducation group each month, a practice greatly appreciated by families. Encouraged by this positive feedback, blueFire is expanding clinical services to include three parent support groups each month alongside the existing psychoeducational group. This enhancement not only reflects the commitment to leading in family systems work but also the team's dedication to ensuring that each family receives the comprehensive support they deserve.

Admissions Director Reid Treadaway shares, "At blueFire, we know that the whole family system is our client. Without change in the family system, the work done at blueFire simply will not be as effective after the client leaves."

This expansion of family support underscores the team's dedication to family-centered healing, not just for the individual clients in their care but also for the families who walk this path alongside them.
