Climbing Higher Diving Deeper How Momentum Recovery Makes Therapy An Adventure

At Momentum Recovery, therapy isn't just about sitting in a chair and talking. It's about pushing limits, finding confidence, and having fun along the way. This summer, the recreational therapy program took things to a whole new level, blending skill-building with some unforgettable adventures for clients across all campuses.

At The Cove, the Dock women earned their rock climbing belay certifications and scaled routes that once looked impossible. They also spent time at the farm for equine therapy, learning how to care for and connect with horses (and cuddling baby goats, which made the day even better). Back at the Anchor campus, a high-energy, Chopped-style cooking competition put teamwork and creativity to the test, with impressive results.

Over at The Creek, the guys took inspiration from The Amazing Race for a citywide scavenger hunt in Wilmington, building problem-solving skills and a sense of community with every challenge. They also spent six weeks mastering indoor climbing, earning their own belay certifications, and are now gearing up for outdoor climbs in the North Carolina mountains. Surf lessons, freediving sessions, and paddleboarding with pros added even more adventure, teaching courage, trust, and just how strong they really are.

Momentum Recovery believes that growth occurs when young adults are pushed just enough out of their comfort zones to discover what's possible. Recreational therapy is where confidence, resilience, and connection are builtone climb, dive, and wave at a time.
