September 2026 — Confluence Behavioral Health is celebrating a decade of providing care, connection, and support to young adults and their families. Since opening its doors in Thetford, Vermont, in 2016, Confluence has continued to grow and evolve with the needs of the young adults it serves—expanding its programs, services, and continuum of care while remaining grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens through connection, skill-building, and the development of a life with purpose.
Over the past ten years, Confluence has grown from a residential program in rural Vermont into a comprehensive continuum of care supporting young adults across multiple stages of their mental health and developmental journeys. Today, Confluence offers residential treatment, transitional living, outpatient counseling, intensive outpatient programming, psychiatric care, and non-clinical services designed to help young adults build the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to navigate adulthood.
A Look Over the Years
2016 — Confluence opens its doors in Thetford, Vermont
2018 — Expanded residential programming
2021 — Opened Transitional Living in Burlington, Vermont
2024 — Expanded outpatient offerings to include outpatient counseling, IOP, and psychiatry
2025 — Expanded non-clinical coaching services in Burlington, Vermont
2026 — Acquired a second residence in Burlington, Vermont, and expanded office space for Confluence Psychological Services
Each milestone represents more than an expansion of services. It reflects Confluence’s ongoing commitment to meeting young adults where they are and providing support that evolves alongside them. From the structure and community of residential treatment to the increasing independence of transitional living and the flexibility of outpatient services, Confluence has worked to create pathways that allow individuals to continue building on their progress as they move forward.
As part of its continued growth in 2026, Confluence has also expanded its office space for Confluence Psychological Services in Burlington. The new space provides dedicated space for outpatient clinical services and will allow the organization to host its Intensive Outpatient Program groups in a purpose-built environment. With capacity to accommodate up to nine clinicians, the expanded office creates additional opportunities for individuals and families to access high-quality clinical care while bringing more of Confluence’s outpatient services together under one roof. This expansion reflects the organization’s ongoing investment in accessible, coordinated care and its commitment to strengthening the continuum of support available to young adults and their families.
At the heart of this work has always been the understanding that treatment is not simply about reducing symptoms. It is about helping young adults develop the emotional awareness, practical skills, relationships, and confidence necessary to build sustainable lives. Confluence’s approach emphasizes evidence-based clinical care alongside experiential learning, community, and opportunities to practice new skills in meaningful settings.
“Ten years gives us an opportunity to look back with gratitude, but it also gives us an opportunity to look forward,” said Bill Brown, LCMHC, Founder of Confluence Behavioral Health. “When we started Confluence, we had a vision for creating a place where young adults could receive meaningful support while also being challenged to grow, develop skills, and discover what was possible for their lives. That vision continues to guide us today. What has changed is our ability to offer that support in more ways and at more points along the journey.”
The past decade has also reinforced the importance of supporting not only young adults, but the families and communities surrounding them. Confluence’s work with families is woven throughout its continuum of care, recognizing that lasting change often requires new communication patterns, stronger relationships, and a shared understanding of how to support a young adult’s growth and independence.
As Confluence looks toward the next ten years, the organization remains focused on what has always been central to its mission: helping young adults navigate the challenges of emerging adulthood and move toward lives marked by greater health, independence, connection, and purpose.
The future represents an opportunity to continue building on what Confluence has learned over the past decade—to expand thoughtfully, strengthen its continuum of care, and develop new ways to support young adults and families as their needs change. The expansion of Confluence Psychological Services is one example of that continued investment, creating greater capacity for outpatient care and providing a dedicated space where clinicians can work collaboratively to support the young adults and families Confluence serves.
With ten years of experience behind it and an evolving vision for what comes next, Confluence is excited to continue growing alongside the individuals and families it serves.
