Inside The Rtc Parent Training Program At Live Strong House

At Live Strong House, healing is seen as a family journey, not just an individual one. To support this, the team has developed the RTC Parent Training Program, a structured and interactive course designed to equip parents and guardians with the tools and understanding necessary to support their child’s growth both during treatment and at home. The RTC Parent Training Program is led by licensed therapist Emil Harker and consists of live virtual sessions held every Tuesday evening. Each session is preceded by an optional informal chat where parents can connect with Emil and other families.  For those who are unable to attend live, sessions are recorded and made available for later viewing. A printable PDF workbook, which accompanies the lessons, is provided in the first session. Before a student can qualify for a home visit, they must reach specific therapeutic milestones that prepare them for success in a home environment. Live Strong House believes the same preparation is vital for parents. The RTC Parent Training Program gives families access to effective tools and strategies that:
  • Strengthen communication and relationships within the family
  • Prepare parents to reinforce therapeutic progress at home
  • Support long-term success after the student transitions out of the program
The first session provides an overview of the Live Strong House model, explaining how the program differs from other treatment approaches, how it fosters lasting change, and what families can expect as they move forward. All parents and legal guardians of students enrolled in the RTC program are expected to participate in the program. Families who have recently enrolled are required to complete all ten core lessons and assignments before their child becomes eligible for the first home visit.  This expectation is not just a rule; it reflects Live Strong House’s deep commitment to evidence-based practices and the belief that family involvement significantly increases the effectiveness of treatment. Live Strong House acknowledges that life circumstances and challenges vary from family to family. The treatment team remains open to questions, feedback, and special considerations as needed. The goal is not perfection but progress and partnership. By investing in parent education, the RTC Parent Training Program helps families build stronger connections, navigate challenges with greater confidence, and lay the groundwork for a healthier, more unified future.   About Live Strong House (LSH)  Live Strong House is a leading institution dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals with neurodiversity.
