Lauren Angerosa to Retire after Two-Decade Career in Adolescent Mental Health

After nearly 20 years of impact in adolescent mental health and therapeutic programming, Lauren Angerosa announces the intentional conclusion of her career in the field. Known for a connection-driven approach and collaborative leadership, Lauren leaves behind a legacy of compassion, innovation, and mentorship. Lauren began her professional journey at The Oakley School, where she worked in direct care. What started as a role supporting students in residential care evolved into a lifelong calling centered on human connection, growth, and resilience. “Looking back, what felt right was the human connection with these kids, who were on their own challenging journeys,” said Lauren. “Despite the difficulties, the work always brought fun, play, and lighthearted interactions during tough times.” Over two decades in adolescent treatment and residential care, Lauren helped develop and lead programs across multiple organizations, including serving on the foundational leadership team at ROOTs, known for its team-centered model and dedication to doing things differently. “I am proud of the program we built in

ROOTs and in awe of the personal and professional growth that came with it,” Lauren added. “Leaving now comes with both heartache and joy—heartache for the team and work I love, and joy in closing this chapter with intention.” As she steps away, Lauren offers a hopeful message for the future of the field: that mental health professionals continue to build strong, ethical organizations capable of thriving during challenging times, and that teams remain grounded in empathy, authenticity, and curiosity. “The friendships and connections I’ve gathered have been the true gifts of my career,” said Lauren. “I hope those continuing the work remember: do your own work, don’t stay too long, and please remember that fear does not cultivate sound decisions.
