As more teens leave short- and long-term residential treatment programs for mental health and co-occurring disorders and reintegrate into their new lives with new life skills and recovery, Life Strategies Mentors has officially launched to fill a critical gap: consistent, real-world mentorship that extends care into the home environment.
Founded in Utah by Enzo Narciso, a graduate student at the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School and former troubled teen himself, Life Strategies Mentors provides personalized support for adolescents navigating recovery, mental health challenges, and high-risk behaviors after leaving residential treatment.
Narciso’s journey was a parent's worst nightmare: he ran away from a Utah residential treatment center at 16 and later had to learn how to walk again after a stay in the ICU from an overdose at 19. After pulling it together in his early twenties, Enzo recognizes that his past experience informs everything he does. He is now on a mission to coach and create space for young people with similar challenges.
“Life Strategies Mentors is something I needed,” said Enzo. “Teens need someone consistent, someone who understands what they’ve been through and stays in their corner after the treatment ends and reintegration begins.”
In 2022, Enzo quickly became the supervisor at the treatment program he had run away from —a dual-diagnosis residential program for teens —and began training staff in building relationships with kids. That experience, combined with the formal clinical education he is currently pursuing and a strong dedication to his own recovery, forms the backbone of Life Strategies Mentors’ approach: a unique, empathetic model rooted in real-world experience.
The mentorship program pairs teens with trained mentors—available 24/7—through a hybrid in-person and online model. The goal is to build consistent, healthy relationships that support teens during vulnerable transitions—particularly when returning home from residential treatment.
With years of experience working directly with youth in residential care, Enzo has now returned full circle—recently invited back to speak at his wilderness therapy program and on many podcasts.
