Ascend Healthcare Announces New Location in Pasadena, CA

Ascend Healthcare has announced the opening of its newest Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Pasadena, expanding access to structured, diagnosis-specific outpatient care for adolescents in Southern California.

The PHP program operates Monday through Friday with individualized scheduling based on each client’s clinical track, while the IOP program runs Tuesday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Both levels of care are designed to provide a supportive step-down pathway that allows teens to remain connected to clinical treatment while reintegrating into their home, school, and community environments.

Rooted in four dedicated clinical tracks — Primary Mental Health, Dual Diagnosis, Eating Disorders, and Neurodiverse — the Pasadena PHP/IOP program reflects the full breadth of Ascend’s specialized treatment model. Services include evidence-based therapies, comprehensive family integration, and Ascend’s signature eco-psychology and animal-assisted care programming at its Santa Clarita farm.

The Dual Diagnosis track supports adolescents navigating co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges through CBT and DBT skill-building, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed therapeutic work focused on emotional regulation and healthier coping strategies.

The Primary Mental Health track is designed for adolescents struggling with mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and related concerns, utilizing evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and ERP to support stabilization, insight, and improved daily functioning.

The Eating Disorder track includes supported meals with real-time clinical processing, alongside structured therapeutic groups centered on emotional awareness, distress tolerance, body image, and coping skill development.

The Neurodiverse track offers structured, skills-based support for adolescents with autism spectrum profiles and/or ADHD, with an emphasis on executive functioning, communication, social learning, and real-time coaching.

A defining feature of the Pasadena program is its diagnosis-specific care pathways, which ensure that each adolescent receives highly individualized treatment aligned with their clinical presentation and developmental needs. The program also emphasizes community-building through structured daily routines, intentional therapeutic groupings, and peer connection designed to foster accountability and belonging from the outset of treatment.

Family integration remains central to the Ascend model, with comprehensive family programming intended to keep loved ones actively supported and involved throughout the recovery process.

In addition, adolescents enrolled in the program have access to Ascend’s eco-psychology and holistic therapies, including equine therapy, animal-assisted care, and nature-based healing experiences offered through the organization’s Santa Clarita farm programming.

The Pasadena location is located at 390 E. Walnut Street, Pasadena, CA 91101. Average length of stay for PHP is approximately one to three months, while IOP participation typically ranges from two to four months, depending on each client’s clinical progress.
