Rooted Life Adventures Fall New Zealand Program Is Confirmed

Rooted Life Adventures is thrilled to announce that our 10-week Fall program in Queenstown, New Zealand, is confirmed. This program is suitable for young adults of all genders aged 18-22. Our departure date is fast approaching; however, we still have a handful of spaces available for students looking for an experiential, adventurous program designed to provide rewarding outcomes and impactful change whilst offering additional mental health support.

Rooted Life Adventures summer and gap year programs are designed for young people to increase their self-awareness, learn leadership and general life skills, and build confidence to feel empowered to develop a sense of self-belonging, capability, and purpose. Rooted Life Adventures bridges the gap between Wilderness Therapy and traditional Gap Year programs as we offer a psychoeducational curriculum with weekly itineraries that include wellness workshops - providing both mental health and wellness information in a digestible format.

Our programs have a therapeutic coach, also known as a Wellness Director, on-site 24/7 to facilitate the curriculum and offer ongoing support to all students, along with two program instructors. For those who require extra support, we can also facilitate weekly check-ins with existing home therapists. We've found that this integrated approach allows for a cohesive coaching plan and continuous care, supporting a smooth transition to and from the program without hindering any existing progress.

Our New Zealand program takes place in Queenstown, located in the South of the South Island, in the Southern Alps. Students undertake adventure activities, explore beautiful landscapes, and learn imperative life skills in a safe and supportive environment. They learn about New Zealand’s Māori culture and visit places of cultural significance. Students undertake an environmental conservation internship, where they are taught about New Zealand’s indigenous flora and fauna, animals, and birds and the unique challenges that New Zealand's environmental landscape faces. Students also participate in volunteer service learning on a rural New Zealand private sheep station (ranch) one day a week, just outside of Queenstown. Students learn practical skills and about general farming through a varied curriculum, receiving a certificate upon successful completion.

Students are spoilt for choice regarding activities and adventure excursions; Queenstown has it all. They enjoy canyoning and waterfall rappelling, jetboating through canyons, and hiking in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park and the Routeburn Track. They explore Milford Sound, the world’s “eighth wonder of the world,” by boat cruise, learn to rock climb in Wanaka, go luging in the mountains, and enjoy mesmerizing stargazing experiences. Not only do students learn and grow through these activities, but they also have fun, form strong and authentic friendships, and create lifelong memories.
