Second Nature Bringing Back All Girls Group

Second Nature is pleased to announce the return of its all-girls treatment group. The group will begin forming in mid-May, and Dr. Fred Peipman will be the primary therapist. Fred is a Licensed Psychologist with 25 years of experience treating adolescents, young adults, and families. He works with issues of anxiety, self-harm, depression, personality disorders, acting-out behaviors, sexually compulsive behaviors, identity challenges, and family conflict. He has also worked extensively with transgender youth and adults, as well as with LGB individuals. “I spent my initial years working in nature-based therapy running a girl’s group,” explained Fred Piepman, Ph.D. “While I have loved helping Second Nature build our all-gender group, I am finding that there is more and more need to serve adolescent girls, and I am excited to return to that focus. We will still provide the best experience for our LGBTQIA+ students and will carefully select the therapist and best group milieu based on individual student needs.” Fred combines clinical acuity, humor, understanding, healthy skepticism, and effective strategies for improving psychological health. Fred specializes in mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral therapy (MB-CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He also frequently employs Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). He often works with students for whom other treatment options and settings have failed or who have complex psychological presentations.
