Webinar Celebrates 20 Years Of Innovation In Child Mental Health Treatment At Sandhill Center

Over the past two decades, Sandhill Center in New Mexico has adapted and evolved to accommodate the shifting landscapes of child mental health treatment. An ever-growing understanding of trauma, brain function, regulation, and attachment has shaped its journey. Sandhill has been privileged to have the guidance of an esteemed leader, Dr. Kurt Wulfekuhler, throughout this journey. His 44 years of expertise have enriched Sandhill's work with families and children as well as its treatment model development.

Two Decades of Impact: Sandhill in Review
To commemorate its 20th anniversary, Sandhill organized a webinar, spearheaded by Dr. Kurt, that will delve into the topic: "The Implications of the Neurobiology of Love.” Scheduled for March 29, 2024, at 11 a.m. MT, the webinar offers invaluable insights gleaned from Sandhill's work. Attendees will benefit from Dr. Kurt's seasoned perspective on the evolution of residential treatment and his collective understanding of neurobiology and love.

Integrative Treatment Model: The Future of Child Mental Health Care
Dr. Kurt’s continuous research into attachment, neurodevelopment, and their clinical implications infuse a fresh perspective into support for neurodivergent children. His approach emphasizes nurturing their innate strengths and talents.

Dr. Kurt was fundamental in establishing our treatment model. It incorporates Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics and Dr. Pat Ogden’s Sensorimotor Psychotherapy within a prosocial and values-based context. His contributions have enabled Sandhill to offer a leading-edge program providing trauma-informed care, uniquely tailored to each child’s neurodevelopmental needs.
