Brightstone Transitions, located in Gainsville, GA is Hiring a Mentor with Young Adults
Brightstone Transitions is looking for bright, confident, and motivated people to be mentors and role models for young adults in transition to healthy living. The job does include overnight staffing.
Role of Mentor
Be responsible for direct, primary care of young adults.Provide a safe and supportive environment for students by holding boundaries and working with students on their treatment goals.Work with a treatment team consisting of the primary Mentor, Therapist, and Psychiatrist to implement students' treatment plan and goals.Meet individually with primary students at least once per week to monitor and document daily progress, provide support, and address progress toward treatment goals.Write treatment summaries on primary students, document weekly meetings with students, communicate on email and other documentation as required.Plan, lead, and facilitate daily activities, workshops and group meetings. There is room to use your strengths, interests and creativity in planning activities.Model healthy and appropriate interactions, conflict resolution and life skills. Look for "teachable moments" or windows of opportunity to teach life skills, self awareness and other concepts.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in psychology or other social science field.Background in working professionally with young adult students struggling with a diversity of issues, including mental health, substance abuse, family dysfunction, motivation, and learning disabilities. Related experience will be considered.Willingness to supervise, enforce boundaries, provide role modeling and leadership to students.Experience planning and supervising trips and activities.Experience with outdoor skills such as hiking, rock climbing, paddling, skiing, etc is preferred.-

Brightstone specializes in creating a customized support program for young people needing help through mentoring. Brightstone uses an Independence Through Application approach. This approach creates learning opportunities through real life situations. Our participates move beyond program centered activities and, with guidance from mentors, they obtain employment, learn the power of volunteerism, enroll in college or technical school, and learn what it means to be truly self sufficient.
We will work collaboratively with the established mental health professionals, independent providers, and families during the young adult’s stay. Maintaining family contact and other obligations pertinent to the young adult’s plan of care and treatment.
