OPI is excited to announce that 2018 marks 15 years of assisting young men and women achieve living independent lives. OPI is a Joint Commission Accredited treatment program founded in 2003 to focus specifically on mental health challenges and complex diagnostic for young adults ages 17-28 to reach their true potential. Intentionally located in the San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles, OPI participants engage in real life experiences and work with a multidisciplinary team to help young adults uncover their true potential.
“Our varying levels of care and staffing give us the ability to specialize and handle complex diagnoses”, says Alisa Foreman, MA, MFT, Clinical Director, “Every participant has their own therapist/case manager who helps guide them toward an independent life.” Participants live in local apartment complexes which provide a real life environment; OPI’s program includes three levels of care to assist clients at an appropriate level of care:
- OPI Intensive is the most structured level of care for participants with complex diagnoses (including Borderline Personality Disorder), who need structured guidance as the clients navigate the real world. Intensive participants receive a 1:2 staffing ratio and 24/7 supervision. They also receive intensive DBT skill building and therapy in their first weeks of treatment prior to transitioning to a less structured schedule.
- OPI Standard is a less structured level of care for those who have completed OPI Intensive, as well as less complex individuals, allowing for more freedom and exploration. Typical participants receive a 1:6 staffing ratio. Participants continue to build DBT skills, work with Life Coaches on independent living skills, and have career, education and recreation counseling.
- OPI Outpatient is the least structured level of care. The Outpatient program is for those who have completed OPI Intensive and/or OPI Standard as well as local participants striving to live an independent life.
“The treatment and community of OPI has evolved and the team has maintained continuity through the years. We are truly fortunate to have many team members who have been with OPI for several years, “ said Executive Jessica Breton, MA LMFT., who herself has been with OPI since 2009. “The longevity of our team, along with their combined years of staff knowledge and expertise, means our participants are getting expert care from seasoned and experienced professionals.”
