David Melear brings to his role at Newport Academy 26 years in the field of mental health, 12 of those in executive leadership. After he entered the mental health field as a direct-care staff, Melear’s career advanced to include executive director positions for the private residential program Innercept, LLC; the CRC Health Group/Aspen Education Center; Island View/Aspen Institute; and Wellspring Academy of California. He also served as chief operating officer for Universal Health Services, Inc., and as CEO of Rivercrest Hospital and Provo Canyon School.
