Brian Carr, MA, LPCC. joined Open Sky as an Assistant Clinical Therapist in January 2017. For the past year, Brian has been immersed in Open Sky’s extensive therapist training and development program. Brian’s training included over a year of shadowing and working alongside key therapists, leading therapeutic groups, providing vacation coverage and facilitating Family Quest experiences at Open Sky.
Brian is a licensed clinical therapist and obtained his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Appalachian State University in North Carolina. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida, Brian hiked the entirety of the Appalachian Trail, over 2,000 miles, and has called the mountains home ever since.
“Brian has been a valuable member of the Open Sky Clinical Team for the past year and a half,” notes Dr. Tony Issenmann, Clinical and Family Services Director. “In addition to the comprehensive training he received at Open Sky, Brian also brings to the position his extensive experience as a Senior Field Guide, where he logged nearly 500 days in the field. Brian’s education, field guide experience, and clinical training positions Brian to work well with our adolescent boys and their families. I’m excited for the families and students who have the opportunity to work with Brian!”
