All Kinds of News for May 09, 2018
With Summit Achievement’s 22-year history of success with non-traditional students, Summit is well suited for participants with a history of school anxiety, refusal or academic underperformance; to best serve the challenges of the summer cohort, Summit dedicates 3 days each week to classroom learning and then utilizes experiential education with 4 days of adventure therapy expedition.
For students attending in the summer, Summit offers an intensive academic credit recovery component for each core subject. With these powerful summary courses, Summit’s summer courses provide school-challenged students the wonderful opportunity for individualized support, clever instruction and curriculum and engaging environs where grades recover and confidence blooms. Then, along with condensed core classes, Summit offers executive functioning classes tailored specifically to the individual student’s academic needs.
All of this is combined with individual, family and group psychotherapy by licensed clinicians.
By providing a fresh and empowering experience in learning, Summit reconciles the student's relationship with school and refreshes their skills in core curriculum subjects. (Summit does not utilize interns or unlicensed clinicians during the summer months nor does the program expand to more teams than any other time of year.)
About Summit Achievement
Summit Achievement is, and always has been, guided by positive reinforcement and the power of choice. Our outcome-focused program employs effective therapeutic and educational principles. Through the process of engaging therapy, classroom academics and exciting wilderness expeditions, students experience the therapeutic benefits of outdoor adventure-based activities while learning to manage the demands of a more traditional environment. As an intentionally small, owner-operated wilderness therapy program, we serve adolescent boys and girls, ages 13-20, from around the world.
