Trails Carolina, a wilderness therapy program for young people ages 10-17, is pleased to announce that it has expanded their capacity and secured a permanent location for its Common Ground programming, their popular 4 day, extended post-graduation transition program for students and their families.
“Common Ground programming helps families reconnect with one another,” comments Jason McKeown MS, LMFT, CPE, DSS, Family Clinical Director at Trails Carolina. “It allows the entire family system to be a part of the healing journey through intentional, therapeutic, adventure based programming facilitated by Trails staff. Over the course of the four day program, families share meaningful and fun seasonal activities as they put the powerful tools learned during their Trails Carolina experience into practice with clinical guidance.”
The permanent location for Common Ground, located in Lake Toxaway, NC and a short drive from the Trails Carolina base camp, is a home environment with classic mountain cabin ambiance. “This comfortable and homelike property has a beautiful setting nestled into the hills and provides access to the waterfront of Lake Toxaway for scenic views and water activities,” says McKeown.
The house can accommodate up to three families at a time and extends the Trails Carolina capacity for the weekly offering of Common Ground sessions to more of our graduating families. “We are very excited for families to have such a relaxing environment for them to continue the healing process,” comments McKeown.
