La Europa Academy welcomed a new Residential Director, Kris Murphy, at the beginning of the summer. Kris joined the team at La Europa with extensive experience in the public health arena where she worked for the last decade designing, implementing and managing the youth gang prevention program in Salt Lake City, UT.
Kris brings to La Europa a passion for working with adolescents and a proven track record of stellar team management. In just a few short months, Kris has demonstrated a clear vision for how the residential team at La Europa can most effectively meet the needs of the students. Kris has an innate understanding of the importance of clarifying the roles of each person on the team so that the team is functioning efficiently. She has already added a wealth of information to current staff trainings, and added new trainings to ensure that all staff are up-to-speed on the issues currently facing at-risk teens.
“What Kris has done in just a few months is amazing,” said one Shift Supervisor. “Our teams are succeeding and the department feels really solid.”
About La Europa Academy and Mosaic House Transition Program
La Europa Academy is a residential treatment center for girls ages 14 -18 who struggle with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, school refusal, disordered eating and substance use. Our program, located in Murray, UT, uses a combination of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and clinical expressive arts to help students learn to manage their emotions effectively. Students at La Europa experience expressive art therapies multiple times per week as well as engaging in creative arts in our fully-accredited high school.
Mosaic House Transition Program provides La Europa students with a step-down experience toward the end of their stay in residential treatment, in order to help transition the student to the next step. Mosaic House is a 15-bed home where students can practice the skills they have learned in a less-structured environment.
