Sunrise RTC values and recognizes the importance of emotional health AND physical health. Providing PE as a part of their academic curriculum is one way they work on the physical aspects of health.
Keeping the girls at Sunrise physically active is like underwear; you've got to change it every day to keep it fresh! this is the approach the PE teacher at Sunrise takes in planning lessons every week.
It is easier to make exercise a part of your life style if you do something that you enjoy. A lot of times girls need to be introduced to things they would have never tried at home to find out if they enjoy it! Once their niche is found, Sunrise aims to include that in weekly activities for them.
It is also important to mix up workouts with exercise that will provide aerobic activity, strength training and balance/flexibility. Once a week, Sunrise girls can plan on having a yoga class, strength training class, cardio class and team/sports game class. By providing this, students receive benefits from, and exposure to, different forms of exercising and establishing healthy habits to stay physically healthy.
