Janet has been working at OPI since 2015. She started as an Independent Living Specialist (OPI direct-care staff who interact most frequently with participants in their apartments), Janet advanced to Clinical Site Supervisor and Addictions Specialist. She is currently the Director of the Addiction Counseling Services Department. Janet is excited to implement new drug testing systems and methodologies at OPI. She facilitates substance abuse education, unplugged data groups, and process addictions workshops. Janet is also a certified Instructor in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, instructing and certifying the entire OPI team. Here's what Executive Director Jessica Breton had to say about Janet's enthusiasm, knowledge, and procurement of Employee of the Month for December: “Janet has lived our values of service and growth! She has taken over the Addictions Department and has been working tirelessly to improve, streamline, create systems, policies, procedures, trainings, etc for the department that will help us and the participants! We are excited to see the growth of this department come to life in 2019!”
Janet is a bit of a Renaissance woman and loves trivia. She can cook, build furniture, sew, scuba dive, work on cars, drive a bus, bungee jump, weld and make moccasins. She loves to think outside the box. Janet loves learning new things, then sharing and teaching others. With her many life experiences, Janet is able to truly connect with a diverse population of people in a variety of situations. Janet and her husband love taking trips to visit her grandson Jay and son Phoenix, who is a Staff Sergeant in the US Army. Words Janet lives by are: “You get to hold onto experience, joy and wisdom by freely giving them away”.
Missy Martin, Director of Life Coaching, has some final thoughts about Janet: “Janet is extremely knowledgeable about addictions (process and chemical) and resources for treating addictions. She has been a wonderful addition to the team, providing customized support for our participants to manage their addictions, leaving them more available to engage and thrive in the other aspects of our program.”
