All Kinds of News for July 10, 2019
BaMidbar Wilderness Therapy is hosting its first short-term, cohort-based young adult program, starting August 18, 2019. This Launch Month, intended for individuals struggling to find their way forward as they transition from adolescence to adulthood, is a 4-week clinical intensive designed to focus on four key outcome areas:
- Increased self-concept
- Skill development and task mastery
- Improved interpersonal competence
- Future planning
Not all students need a 10-12 week program; some students need a reset. This program is an opportunity for those whom a full traditional wilderness experience may be more than they are able or ready to commit. BaMidbar students are empowered as adult decision-makers, and are given guided autonomy in determining their own future. By uniting a small, motivated peer group with dedicated field staff and an experienced clinical team, this program creates space for impactful and intentional self-work. The group will band together through basecamp model programming and weekly backcountry and adventure-based excursions to explore each individual's passions, priorities, and impediments while developing plans for next steps and long term goals.
BaMidbar will continue to diversify its programmatic offerings in the coming months. Other upcoming initiatives include family-centric retreats beginning in October 2019 and a wellness-focused adolescent alternative winter break trip in January 2020.
