Solstice East, a residential treatment center for teen girls ages 14-17, is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Gerard Travis, Psychiatrist, to their clinical team and Kristin Woolard, Learning Services Coordinator, as part of the academic team.
Dr. Travis is board certified in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with over 30 years of renowned experience. A graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. Dr. Travis is a longtime representative of the North Carolina Council on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and was instrumental, as Medical Director, in launching a comprehensive, psychiatric care unit for the area’s largest medical hospital. He has presented on Personality Disorders, ADHD, Eating Disorders in Adolescents, Panic Disorders, and several other mental health topics during his tenure.
In his spare time, Dr. Travis can be found enjoying time with family, playing golf or trumpet, or engaging in his local community via service work.
Kristin Woolard joins the team with a degree in Special Education, Reading, and Biblical Studies from Cedarville University in Ohio. She has worked in several educational settings including Juvenile Detention and public schools. Woolard has taught math and science in small and large group settings. She strives to create a supportive setting that fosters a positive learning environment for all of her students.

Solstice East is a residential treatment center for young women ages 14-17 nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Asheville, North Carolina.
