All Kinds of News for February 09, 2022
Pure Life Adventure is pleased to announce the opening of its adolescent programming in the spring of 2022, Pure Life will be admitting all gender adolescents ages 15-17 years old. “Pure Life can now offer the same beneficial experience to adolescents that our young adult clients and families have enjoyed for the last nine years,” says Mara Mueller, Clinical Director.
Pure Life’s current adventure therapy model is fitting for all those who are seeking a unique therapy experience for life-long changes. While young adults have been the focus of Pure Life since the onset, Pure LIfe administrators have always seen a great need for therapy of all ages. Andrew Taylor, Founder of Pure Life Adventures said, “We have been wanting to do this for a while now. We get many phone calls from referral partners and parents asking if we can take adolescents and now we can.”
Pure Life is a champion of communication and consent when it comes to adventure therapy. Just like their young adult program, all adolescent students will be involved in the admission process and must be willing to attend the program. Each student will be fully informed about their choice to attend. Allan Capp, Program Director said, "Much like our young adults, due to our admission process, we anticipate a highly engaged and motivated peer group. This allows us to do so much more in terms of activities and adventures."
Pure Life Adventure’s bicultural team provides a therapeutically sophisticated and holistic approach to helping adolescents with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, lack of motivation, executive function deficits, trauma, and substance abuse. Students are individuals with very real challenges looking for lasting change. Those who decide to attend Pure Life’s adventure therapy program can expect a busy and engaging 80-90 day stay in Costa Rica where they will learn to surf, whitewater raft, backpack, experience cultural homestays, participate in local service projects, and equine therapy. Each session will also involve parents with weekly calls, check-ins with field therapists as well as an in-person parent visit to Costa Rica.
Pure Life has been ready to take on this new adventure with adolescent programming for a few years; however, the COVID pandemic slowed the launch of the new program. This slowdown allowed Pure Life to fine-tune its model for 15-17 years olds. Adolescents are in such a fragile time period of their life and, for parents, sending their kids to an international program can be scary. With all this in mind, Pure Life wanted to ensure their therapy model was done right. With proper health protocols in place and solid communication plans for families, Pure Life believes that 2022 is the right time to begin accepting students to their new adolescent programming.
