All Kinds of News for June 08, 2022
Young men at Triple Divide Lodge, a residential program with a wilderness influence, find no shortage of solid food options during their stay at the program. Jeff Brown, affectionately known as Chef Jeff, is a master of creating foods that are appetizing while also being nutritionally sound. Too many residential programs focus only on the immediate substance issues instead of holistically looking at the case with mindful nutrition.
“I don’t want what we serve to be some ‘institutional’ type menu. I try to create a balance of food I know our guys will eat while exposing them to new things. Every group is unique which keeps me on my toes adjusting the menu. By creating things from scratch, I make better tasting food that is higher quality.” - Jeff Brown
Chef Jeff is a Certified Nutrition Specialist and has worked in several different culinary traditions with many awards to show for it. He not only has 30 years of experience in cooking but in teaching others how to cook as well. He loves getting and keeping people informed and involved in cooking. He strives to adjust people’s perceptions of food and demystify what makes food delicious and still healthy. Chef Jeff’s culinary creations receive such a great reception that his dishes get regular features on Triple Divide Lodge’s Instagram page; be sure to check it out to see what is on the menu next.
Executive Director Patrick Hawkins says, “I see guys eating vegetables and enjoying them - that says it all about what he’s preparing”.
