outBACK Therapeutic Expeditions Continues to Redefine Wilderness Therapy

Lehi, UT – outBACK Therapeutic Expeditions is thrilled to announce the launch of an innovative staffing model for field guides. Beginning Monday, September 20, 2021, outBACK will transition from the traditional two-shift model found in wilderness therapy to a groundbreaking move towards a three-rotation model. After carefully examining programmatic enhancements through the lens of those who spend the most time with clients, outBACK is poised to set the new standard for quality care. A three-rotation model will allow the field guide schedule and staffing responsibilities to be divided among three separate shifts of guide teams. This unprecedented model results in:
- Increased training for front line staff
- Increased planning & preparation
- Increased communication between staff and departments
- Increased quality of service
- Increased staff pay
- Increased rest and relaxation between shifts
The impacts of Covid-19 and overall mental health have been, and continue to be, felt in both the professional and personal lives of individuals across industries. As a premier mental healthcare provider dedicated to bringing families back together, outBACK recognized the critical need to redefine key areas of design in wilderness therapy. Given that employees in healthcare are not immune to the stresses of the pandemic, creating a structural design that effortlessly supports front-line staff with more training, more time off for rest, and more opportunities to plan and prepare will enhance overall quality of care.
Similar to the launch of this upcoming staffing model, outBACK is no stranger to steering outside the traditional ways of operation within the field of wilderness therapy. Back in January 2017, outBACK added masters-level clinicians as part of the field guide teams; increasing clinical access and contact, increasing billable hours for insurance, and increasing the number of clinicians working with each student during enrollment.
