Parent Coach Professionals Celebrates 10 Years of Tele-Coaching Partnerships

Parent Coach Professionals (PCP) is celebrating 10 years of tele-coaching partnerships with founders Barb Cass, BS, ACC, and Vicki Jones, MS, PCC, widely considered pioneers in the field of parent coaching, to the private pay behavioral heath care industry. Parent coaching helps parents to determine what actions best support their family and how to engage with their child effectively. The founders have created a unique personalized parent coaching model that allows for collaboration with treatment programs, families, and professionals to engage in their services in distinctly different ways to assist in families’ success through their skills-based coaching.
There are three different ways that families, professionals, and treatment programs can engage in the services of PCP:
- Families hire Parent Coach Professionals for their own individual Tele-Coaching package
- Treatment to Transition programs partner and outsource to Parent Coach Professionals the parent-coaching piece, for all of their clients as part of the family services.
- Parent Coach Professionals offers a 16 week Parent Certification Course that upon completion provides a parent coaching certification.
“Working with Parent Coach Professionals for the past 10 years has added so much value to our (treatment) program. The Parent Coaches help us better support our families,” stated an Admissions Director whose program has worked with PCP for all of the 10 years. “Therapists spend less time addressing parent’s concerns, and more time focused on working with our students. Parents are less likely to make an impulsive decision and pull their child from the program, because they have the additional support of their Parent Coach, and are coached about the process.”
Parent Coach Professionals provides experienced coaches who work remotely throughout the United States and around the world. They offer a variety of ‘Call packages’ to support parents through pre-enrollment, enrollment, and program services including preparation for family workshops, therapy, boundary setting, and home visits. Written summaries of ‘tele-coaching parent sessions’ are provided for the treatment program to ensure coaches use the same language and model consistency with the treatment program’s structure.
A unique aspect of Parent Coach Professionals is the relationship with therapeutic and transitional programs. In partnering directly with programs, they are able to provide a third-party objective source of feedback and guidance. Coaching helps parents stay focused on their work and make choices that reflect the evolving relationship with their child. With this assistance, parents are better able to remain connected and aligned with the program as they support their child’s journey and discover their own opportunities for growth. As one Executive Director shared, “Parent Coach Professionals provides education, practice and space for parents to focus on their personal goals throughout the treatment journey. They are an invaluable part of the process.”
After 10 years of coaching and many years of helping families, professionals Cass and Jones have created this tele-coaching model designed for supporting a family while in treatment as well as supporting parents who have come home from treatment. 2020 brought new challenges for treatment programs and families. The ongoing uncertainty has created new questions and added anxiety for many families. Through their work with parents, programs and referring professionals, Parent Coach Professionals has been able to support parents in making sound decisions that match their values and goals. “There are so many unexpected emotions and changing dynamics to address that is most appropriately responded to by the coaches at PCP,” reflected the VP of a young adult transitional program. In 2021, PCP looks forward to continuing to provide this support as they navigate the changing landscape and client needs. They also look forward to expanding their reach to serve more parents, programs and referring professionals.
