Parent Workshops Transitioning Back to In-Person Events at Trails Carolina

Trails Carolina, a wilderness therapy program for adolescents and teens ages 10-17, is excited to announce that their parent workshops will be held in person once again. Parent workshops are part of the family therapy programming at Trails Carolina that also includes a dedicated family therapist, weekly support groups and mindfulness classes, alumni support, and the Common Ground experience.
Successful family therapy can help parents and siblings feel supported in their own journeys while their loved one is in treatment. Often, families need to work through their own issues and learn new skills in order to best support the long-term success of their child. A few weeks into a child’s stay, Trails offers parents a workshop in which they’ll learn about healthy family systems, how to support their child and new tools they can use to create a healthier, happier home life.
“The in-person workshops create an unmatched ability for parents/participants to be able to connect and build a supportive community that truly understands what you have endured prior to Trails,” said Family Therapist Erin Cantalini, MA, LPC. “Being in-person also allows a more meaningful (and paralleled) experience of being in the physical space that your child has been in, and practicing the very skills that they are learning and doing.”
At the end of treatment, parents can opt into the Common Ground experience, a four-day family program that invites parents to reunite with their child with the support of staff. Common Ground activities are designed to help families practice communication skills, conflict resolution, and strengthen their bonds.
