Cascade Programs provides specialized residential treatment in Utah for adolescents ages 12 to 18 whose lives have been significantly disrupted by anxiety, OCD, and related internalizing conditions. Across three programs, Cascade offers short-term and long-term care designed around the clinical, developmental, academic, and family needs of adolescents.
WHO WE SERVE
Cascade serves adolescents whose primary challenges involve anxiety, OCD, and avoidance-driven impairment. Common presentations include:
• Intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and rigid rituals
• Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, and phobias
• School refusal and academic avoidance
• Perfectionism and reassurance seeking
• Social withdrawal and increasing isolation
• Body-focused repetitive behaviors
• Somatic anxiety and health-related fears
Students may also experience co-occurring depression, ADHD, executive-function difficulties, learning differences, neurodivergent traits, or trauma symptoms when these occur alongside the primary anxiety or OCD presentation.
THREE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS
• Cascade Academy in Midway, Utah provides long-term residential treatment for girls ages 12 to 18. The intentionally small community serves no more than 26 students, with a typical program length of 10 to 12 months.
• Cascade Lodge in Huntsville, Utah provides long-term residential treatment for boys ages 12 to 18. Treatment is integrated throughout therapy, academics, residential life, relationships, recreation, and outdoor experiences.
• Cascade Home in Heber City, Utah provides short-term residential treatment for girls ages 12 to 18. The eight-bed program offers stays of up to 90 days, with focused treatment, specialty assessment, family support, and recommendations for the next stage of care.
CLINICAL APPROACH
Treatment is individualized and grounded in evidence-based approaches, including:
• Exposure and Response Prevention
• Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
• Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy
• Individual, group, and family therapy
• Recreation and experiential therapy
Clinical work extends beyond scheduled therapy sessions. Students practice responding differently to anxiety during academics, residential routines, peer relationships, recreation, family work, community experiences, and everyday setbacks. This whole-day approach gives adolescents repeated opportunities to tolerate discomfort, reduce avoidance, build flexibility, and re-engage with important parts of their lives.
ACADEMICS AND LEARNING
Many Cascade students are bright and capable but have difficulty accessing education because of anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, school refusal, executive-function challenges, or learning differences. Academics are integrated with treatment so students can practice flexibility, self-advocacy, persistence, and healthy engagement with school.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
Families participate throughout treatment through family therapy, parent support, education, and transition planning. The goal is to help families understand the patterns that may unintentionally reinforce anxiety and support continued progress after residential treatment.
Cascade Programs operates three Joint Commission-accredited residential programs in Utah.
