Foundation House is a mental health and substance use treatment program for men in Portland, Maine, founded in 2002 and experienced in serving older adolescents (16–19), young adults (20–27), and adults (28 and up). The program pairs evidence-based clinical care, including CBT, DBT, ACT, attachment-based, and trauma-informed therapy, with experiential programming like wilderness trips, service work, yoga, and annual international travel.

The young men enrolled move from structured residential care toward fully independent living, with academic support, family involvement, and a 120-acre therapeutic ranch as part of the experience.

Foundation House is licensed by the State of Maine for both substance use and mental health treatment and is accredited by The Joint Commission.

How much does Foundation House cost?

Clinical services are in-network with Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Optum, and UnitedHealthcare; other major insurers are accepted out-of-network, and admissions will run a full verification of benefits for each family's specific plan.
