Point School Puerto Rico Introduces Summer Programming

Point School Puerto Rico announces their summer programming. A summer at Point School can help maintain forward momentum for young adults in between semesters of college or young adults who want an enriching summer experience. Summer programming offers all the same program benefits in a condensed fashion including the opportunity to become dive certified and take beginner surf lessons. Students will attend traditional carnivals and music festivals and even pick up some of the Spanish language. Each young adult will work with Point School’s Director of Well-Being to incorporate the key fundamentals of the program into their summer experience. COVID-19 UPDATE: Call (484) 450-6878Point School Puerto Rico integrates traditional gap year components such as cultural immersion, experiential learning, and volunteer experience with well-being support so young men can build self-identity through career, interest and personal exploration based on individualized strengths. Cultural ImmersionPSPR guys experience authentic Puerto Rico by participating in Spanish classes and practicing conversational skills in the community, attending salsa and cooking classes, exploring the history, politics, and tourism of Puerto Rico. Experiential LearningPSPR guys gain recreational skills and competency. Activities include: SCUBA certifications, surfing, snorkeling, exploring, etc. Experiential learning offers an opportunity to gain skill mastery with the intention of building self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, social confidence that can be transferred to other aspects of life.VolunteeringPSPR guys gain professional experience fields that interest them. Volunteer experience is used to find a professional or academic track that they can find fulfillment and motivation through. They will develop professional skills, gain references, build resumes and increase executive functioning.Self-DiscoveryWe use the VIA Character Strengths Survey to inform individualized strength development. Our goal is provide each young man with positive introspection that will boost intrinsic motivation, resilience, and self-efficacy as they transition into college and/or adulthood.
