Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness offers clinically driven, licensed wilderness therapy assessment and treatment options for troubled teens and pre-teens ages 10-18 years old. The ADOLESCENT Program at Blue Ridge was developed for teens, 14 – 18, to be removed from the pressures and distractions of daily life. The program utilizes advanced clinical skill, a highly flexible nomadic wilderness model, ceremony, metaphor, and an affinity for the healing power of nature, to promote resiliency, healthy choices and real change. Blue Ridge's co-educational FOOTSTEPS program is a licensed, clinically-driven wilderness therapy program designed to meet the specific needs of boys and girls, ages 10 – 14. As a middle school group, play is the foundation and is incorporated in all activities of the Footsteps Program. The staff thoughtfully engage, challenge, and motivate these students to gain stronger physical, mental, social, and emotional resiliency. Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness, formerly Second Nature Blue Ridge, works with students and families who need an individualized approach to their assessment and treatment. Our students tend to struggle with: Anxiety - Depression - Bipolar Disorder - Substance Abuse - Computer & Internet Addictions - Academic Failure - Low Self-Esteem - Low Frustration Tolerance - ADHD - Executive Functioning Issues - Developmental Delays - Learning Difficulties - Identity Issues - Attachment & Adoption Issues - Social Challenges - Family Conflict - Grief & Loss - Sexual Acting Out - High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders - Victims of Abuse
