Second Nature continues to be at the forefront of clinically based wilderness therapy treatment for 13 – 17 year old students.  Located in northern Utah, we embrace a nomadic wilderness therapy model.  This means that students spend their time hiking, building fires, and participating in therapy without distraction from the outside world.   Our licensed Master’s and Ph.D level clinical team is among the most experienced in the field.  We understand that by coupling a safe and powerful wilderness experience with clinically sophisticated interventions, clients build self-esteem and resilience while developing tools to address emotional and behavioral issues.   Second Nature has developed the “Family Dynamic Assessment,” a comprehensive evaluation of family systems which provides families, referring professionals, and aftercare programs with important information that identifies specific needs of the teenager and the family system in the therapeutic process. Whether working with complex clinical diagnoses or students who have yet to identify core clinical issues, Second Nature provides a clinically safe and sophisticated environment for students to develop resilience around issues which may include: • Anxiety • Depression • Trauma • Social anxiety • Mood Disorders • Substance Abuse and Addiction • Technology Dependence • Emerging Personality Disorders • Adoption/Attachments issues • Autism Spectrum disorders Therapists develop individualized treatment plans and students are placed in supportive groups conducive to their therapeutic needs.
