Research supports therapeutic interventions that allow a child to learn and replicate skills in a setting that is most like reality. Rather than a dormitory or institutional setting, Alpine Academy students live in homes intended to create a family-style setting.
Two 30+ acre campuses – one for birth-assigned female teenagers and the other one for birth-assigned males – are located in a peaceful farming community nestled at the base of a spectacular mountain range with views of the Great Salt Lake. Both campuses are just 30 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport.
Each Alpine Academy campus is a residential treatment center, but neither looks like it. They don’t look like private schools, but they are. Each Alpine Academy campus looks like a neighborhood of beautiful upscale homes surrounded by crop fields, vegetable gardens, and livestock. This environment provides a safe and peaceful community for students to heal, learn, and grow.
Intensive therapeutic services are incorporated into every part of Alpine Academy. Psychotherapy, coupled with our skill-building model, provides an environment where students are able to make significant changes, both in their outward behavior patterns and more importantly, in their inner thought patterns and processes.
An individualized treatment plan is developed for each student based on their specific needs, strengths, and personal goals. As students develop empowerment and self-determination capabilities, they also expand their ability to create and keep healthy peer and adult relationships. The model used to teach these skills within our homes and throughout our campuses incorporates Social Learning Theory and is evidence-based and empirically validated.
Alpine Academy’s goal is to build academic self-esteem in each student and to prepare all students for their next academic step in life. Caring teachers, small class sizes, individualized academic plans, and a robust curriculum contribute to our graduates’ educational success.
