CLOSED APRIL 2023
Aspiro Adventure wants to sincerely thank all who have made it possible for us to help thousands of adolescents, young adults, and their families to find hope, healing, and lasting change. This endeavor has been profoundly life-changing for us as care providers, and for the families Aspiro has served over the years. Our work has been rewarding as well as challenging. It has always been worth the effort.
Sadly, we are announcing that Aspiro Adventure will be winding down its operations in the next few months. We realize this will come as a shock to many of you throughout our field. Making this decision has been a painstaking and arduous process. Many will understandably ask “why?“
It is commonly known that the therapeutic wilderness treatment field has experienced a dramatic decline in student referrals the last 12 to 18 months. Aspiro, like other wilderness programs, has been hit hard by this slow down. Recessionary and economic factors, the emergence of insurance driven 30-day stabilization programs, and negative press throughout the private pay mental health arena have all contributed to an untenable financial position for Aspiro. Other factors such as retention and hiring of therapists and field staff have created challenges across our industry as well. Given these challenges, the Aspiro Board has concluded that financially we cannot continue to provide the highest level of therapeutic adventure programming that everyone has come to expect from us. Providing both clinical care and therapeutic programming is very expensive.
Aspiro Adventure is committed to working with their students to complete their therapeutic stay. We will continue Aspiro’s commitment to high-quality and effective care as we wind down operations. The other Aspiro partner programs, Daniels Academy, Outback, and Black Mountain Academy, continue to thrive and we encourage you to reach out to them if you have questions specifically about those programs.
Again, this was the most difficult decision. We are deeply saddened. We love and value what we have accomplished over our 18 years. We are so grateful to each of you who have partnered with us and trusted us in this life saving care. And, we are so grateful and mindful of the hundreds of employees who have, over the years, given their all to help our students and their families.
Most sincerely,
The Aspiro Adventure Owners,
Chris, Brian, Andy, Corbin

Aspiro’s methods, goals, objectives, and group placement are uniquely tailored based on the individual’s needs. Our therapists, with assistance from the field guides, are able to drive the direction and success of each group to maximize clinical effectiveness.
We operate our program from a clinically sophisticated and research-based model. Everything we do is intentionally designed to assist students and their families in creating lasting changes. We understand that every student is capable and unique, and that each student deserves treatment that is specifically tailored for them in order for them to flourish.
To summarize, here is a direct testimony from one of our parents:
“During this difficult time in trying to help my son, I never felt that anyone ‘got it’ until I met [our therapist] and his staff. They truly have a genuine care for their students and for [the student’s] success.”
