CooperRiis is a residential healing community located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Since 2003, we’ve been helping adults living with mental health challenges achieve their highest levels of functioning and fulfillment through a powerful recovery approach combining trusted clinical therapies, community work and service, education, and integrative wellness practices.

CooperRiis offers an integrated system with two levels of residential care; a clinically intensive short-term model in Asheville and a long-term therapeutic working Farm in Mill Spring. We also have transitional services in Asheville with a transitional living program and out-patient services through our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).

At our Asheville residential treatment program and PHP we are in network with AETNA, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC and Cigna, and at our PHP we are also in network with United Healthcare. We accept out-of-network benefits and private pay as well.

CooperRiis treats adults diagnosed with Anxiety Disorders, Autism/Neurodiversity, Bipolar Disorder, Dual Diagnosis (support), Major Depressive Disorders, Personality Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD), and Schizophrenia & Schizoaffective Disorders.

At CooperRiis, we believe recovery from mental illness is possible and best achieved when individuals and their family members or loved ones are active participants in the journey. Our approach to treatment, provided in a caring and supportive setting, helps guide residents along the path toward hope, healing, wellness and independence.

We support our LGBTQIA+, gender non-conforming, non-binary and/or genderqueer community members by engaging in practices that raise gender awareness for all.
